This Tuesday, December 24, at 4 a.m., a tragedy unfolded in front of a nightclub located on rue Pierre et Marie Curie in the Terres Sainville district of Fort-de-France. Nightlife regulars, gathered after a lively evening, were about to return home when events took a tragic turn.
On surveillance videos, we can see a white car trying to make its way through a crowd of young people of all ages. Suddenly, a man riding a motorcycle stops not far from the car.
It was then that the situation quickly worsened: gunshots rang out, causing panic among those present. A man collapses, seriously injured.
According to several witnesses, it was this first shooter who subsequently received a fatal shock and died a few minutes later. The toll was severe: one dead and one injured by firearms.
The crime scene, quickly cordoned off by judicial police investigators, became the scene of anger and incomprehension. The victim's friends are brooding over their rage, already talking about reprisals.
This drama, which seems to be a settling of scores between rival gangs, raises serious concerns about the violence that could result from it. An investigation has already been opened to shed light on the circumstances of this tragedy, which left two families in mourning on Christmas Eve.
While awaiting the results, the inhabitants of Terres Sainville are in turmoil, challenged by the violence that resides in the heart of the Martinican night.
This would be the 25th homicide since the start of 2024 in Martinique.
