Merry Christmas from Free… which is experiencing an outage in certain Freeboxes, which prevents you from accessing the Internet, watching television or making calls with the landline. This falls right on New Year’s Eve.
According to several testimonials from Free/Freebox customers on social networks, the current Internet outage mainly affects those in the south-east of France, particularly in the Nice region. There are also concerns in Fréjus, Saint-Raphaël and neighboring towns, as well as in Corsica in Ajaccio. The connection problems started around 6 p.m. and are still ongoing depending on the region and DownDetector.
Free has not yet commented on this outage. It is therefore difficult to know if the teams have found the origin of the problem and if a return to normal will be quick. It certainly doesn't really help that a problem of this type falls just before December 24, just before Christmas. Many employees are with their families this evening. But there are still teams on the ground, although there are fewer of them than usual.
If you are a Freebox customer, you cannot do anything in particular, except wait for a return to normal.
