It's a vast project that the European Metropolis of Lille wishes to launch. She has just launched a appel with the 95 municipalities that make it up for the creation of a urban supervision center metropolitan. Enough to accelerate the implementation of video surveillance in the territory.
Towards an acceleration of video surveillance in the metropolis of Lille
For several years now, the community has been supporting municipalities in their video protection projects via purchasing and financing pooling mechanisms. It is accelerating the process today with the launch of a Call for Expressions of Interest (AMI) “to collect the needs of municipalities in this area and enable the construction of a future Metropolitan Center for Urban Supervision (CMSU)”, all while continuing its financial support of more than €2 million “to strengthen the territorial network and a continuous security system”.
The Call for Expressions of Interest (AMI) is therefore aimed at municipalities with:
- cameras on public roads but without an Urban Supervision Center (CSU) to allow them to access real-time viewing of their public roads;
- an Urban Supervision Center whose services and functionalities could be strengthened according to the needs of each municipality.
“The voluntary municipalities will thus participate in the creation of a Metropolitan Urban Supervision Center (CMSU) which will make it possible, via mechanisms for pooling resources, to build a continuous security system on a metropolitan scale,” explains the community.
And President Damien Castelain supports: “In a difficult economic context for municipalities which wish to guarantee and preserve the living environment of their inhabitants, we reaffirm the commitment of the Metropolis in terms of security”.
Since 2018, nearly 50 municipalities in the European Metropolis of Lille have benefited from subsidies from the MEL Competition Fund for an amount of more than €3 million. The municipalities have set up nearly 10 urban supervision centers (CSU).
