“Green lights to play at Michelin”: things are moving in the right direction according to Christian Perbet, the president of FC Espaly, to see his club challenge Paris-Saint-Germain on the pitch of the Marcel-Michelin stadium in Clermont-Ferrand , on Wednesday January 15, 2025, at 9 p.m., for the round of 16 of the Coupe de France.
According to our information, a meeting was held this Tuesday, December 24 morning at the Puy-de-Dôme prefecture. The security services, ASM Rugby and its security service provider, PAG, as well as a representative of the French Football Federation and PSG would have validated the Marcel-Michelin option. The leaders of ASM, the club that owns the stadium, confirmed to us that the meetings this Tuesday morning were very positive; both on a legal, security and financial level. “Everyone worked to find solutions,” confides Christophe Perbet.
The FFF must still validate the choice of Michelin
On the economic level, the leaders of the Espaly club and those of ASM Clermont Auvergne agreed on the following model: the rugby club rents the stadium to Espaly so that it has no costs at his expense. The Espaly club manages the ticketing and benefits from it. The ASM maintains the management of refreshments and food trucks.
But it's not completely official yet. At this time, all that is missing is official approval from the Clermont-based venue (by the FFF) for the organization of the meeting. The venue must be able to offer numerous guarantees required by the Federation for this type of meeting (security, sports equipment, changing rooms, lighting, billboards, etc.) A procedure which should not pose any problems.
Concerning ticketing, “demand being very strong”, the first information should come at the end of the week.
