Scattered everywhere, and mostly in the city center, municipal services have all been grouped together over the years in different buildings. Public service centers that are more accessible to the public and allow resources to be pooled.

The communications department and the municipal management company Événements have moved to the building located on Place de l'Abattoir, thus leaving their former offices on Place de la République available to allow the tourist office located on the ground floor of expand. During the last municipal council, elected officials voted for a deliberation concerning the acquisition of this three-story residential house which had to be completely redeveloped into an office. Between the purchase and the work, the cost is more than €600,000.

It is the last municipal service that was not yet grouped together in one of the centers that the City has created over the years. Because this house is a stone's throw from the building at 3 allée Alphonse-Juin which already brings together many services, just opposite the Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI).

Indeed, this large building of several floors already housed all the technical services, town planning and even heritage. The security and regulation department, which was housed in the city center in the Hôtel du Poncet, difficult to access for the public, requiring a lot of maintenance and not very suitable for offices, took up residence there on the ground floor. a few years ago. The municipal police also moved to these premises in 2020, their former offices overlooking the courtyard of City Hall having been requisitioned for the expansion of the Goya Museum.

“We group together based on opportunities”

“We group services together based on opportunities,” says Christian Laborde, director of services for the city of Castres, who wants to bring together all of his services that have long been scattered everywhere, particularly in the city center, and therefore often difficult to access for the public. We try to harmonize as for the public services house.

Indeed, in 2000, the municipality at the time had built a public services house in the Bisséous district where all municipal services linked to family, early childhood, education and sport are located today.

In 2009, it was the population-civil status service which left the city center to settle in the former military building, CM 15, in the Laden district, thus joining the human resources and finance department. and IT who had found refuge there two years earlier.

On the Poudrerie site in Mélou, we find services related to cleanliness, street furniture, the garage, household waste collection and even Libellus.

“It’s in the spirit of the times to pool,” says Christian Laborde. The city and the urban community of Castres-Mazamet have also made this turning point, whether for different services or for management staff in particular.

In addition to the general secretariat and the offices of elected officials at the Town Hall, there is only the municipal social action center (CCAS) which logically remains in the town center at La Platé with the Senior Space which 'he manages.
