“The 6th in 3 years” deplores MP Stéphane Lenormand, “no plan on the comet” for Senator Jean-Marc Ruel

The new Government formed by Prime Minister François Bayrou was announced this Monday late afternoon. With a new change at the Ministry of Overseas Territories: François-Noël Buffet leaves his place to a political ghost, the former Prime Minister Manuel Valls.

The former socialist minister of President François Hollande is even positioned as Minister of State in 2nd position in François Bayrou's government, behind Elisabeth Borne but ahead of Justice and the Interior, and without being attached to another ministry.

He is the 8th Overseas Minister since the election of Emmanuel Macron as President of the Republic in 2017. A record under the Fifth Republic…and an instability denounced on numerous occasions by the elected officials of the 9 overseas territories.

Starting with the deputy for Saint-Pierre and Miquelon Stéphane Lenormand (Archipel Demain), president of the LIOT parliamentary group (Liberty, Independence, Overseas and Territories):

This is the 6th I'll be around in 3 years! I will be vigilant on the expected decision for the 20 million euros for the Saint-Pierre commercial quay, the 4 million for the housing to be built and on the Exceptional Investment Fund for the two municipalities.

For him, on the government, “We’ve hit rock bottom and we’re still digging”denouncing a “even more right-wing”an unbalanced and non-plural government”…And on the choice of Manuel Valls for this position, the answer is concise: “No comments!”

It must be said that during Manuel Valls' visit in 2016, exchanges were very tense between the Prime Minister and the Territorial Authority then chaired by Stéphane Artano.

For his part, the new senator of the Archipelago Jean-Marc Ruel (Cap sur l'Avenir), elected on December 8 to succeed Annick Girardin, “welcomed at the appointment of a government in this period of political instability”.

Concerning Manuel Valls, he already knows Saint-Pierre, since he came there to lay the first stone of the Boarding School of Success. He knows overseas. This time, he will be a Minister of State for Overseas…but we are not going to make any plans on the comet, we will have to wait.

And also to highlight the need to remain attentive to the monitoring of files concerning the archipelago.

The new Overseas Minister came to the archipelago of Saint-Pierre and Miquelon. It was from October 14 to 15, 2016. The opportunity for the Prime Minister at the time to lay the first stone of the future Boarding School for Success…which will not be inaugurated for another 8 years. later. Given a few months, he could even have inaugurated it himself. He was then accompanied by Saint-Pierraise Annick Girardin, Minister of the Civil Service, and Ericka Bareigts, Minister of Overseas Territories.

The opportunity to meet high school students, to interact with local socio-economic and political actors, to work on direct air connections with … and even to visit Sailors' Island for an hour .

Marie Barsacq, appointed in this Bayrou Government as Minister of Sports, Youth and Community Life, also came to the archipelago. In June 2015, she accompanied the president of the French Federation at the time, Breton Noël Le Graet. She was then deputy general director of the FFF, in charge of amateur football.
