However, the start of 2024 started well with a victory against championship leader Angers (2-0 at Furiani), before losing at home against Caen (1-2), then away on the Valenciennes lawn (3-1). One defeat too many. For those who have memories, it was also a defeat in Valenciennes which sealed the fate of his predecessor Mathieu Chabert in October 2021.
A duo, a mission
In the process, a duo new to the subject, Miche Moretti (reserve coach in National 3) and Lilian Laslandes (attackers coach), thus took over to lead the club, on the edge of the red zone, to a tenth place in the championship, beating ACA in the return derby, 1-0 thanks to a goal from Miguel Alfarelain a stadium Armand-Cesari in turmoil, before asserting himself outside on the lawn of Quevilly, 0-1, with a new goal from Alfarela. Beginnings which allowed the SCB to regain momentum.
Despite the club's critical situation in January, the club will finish 10th in the championship, ahead of its neighbor and rival Ajaccian who, before the winter break, had a solid season.
The departure of the former coach Quevilly, also put an end to the long relationship maintained for more than fifteen years between the SCB and Frédéric Née. Flagship player, assistant coach, youth or even reserve coach, the former striker with 55 goals in 205 games in the blue jersey, perhaps did not have the exit he deserved.
The number: 98
The number of matches spent on the SC Bastia bench by Régis Brouard in all competitions (39 wins, 27 draws and 32 defeats). He could have experienced his 99th match at the head of Sporting during the derby against Ajaccio and his 100th on the lawn of Quevilly-Rouen Métropole, the club which made him known in the early 2010s and which he had led until in the final of the Coupe de France in 2012.

10/01. Laurent Lokoli retires in Melbourne
Once on the waiting list, the island tennis player joined the qualifying table for the Australian Grand Slam tournament. Facing the Italian Federico Gaio, the Corsican was unable to defend his chances by abandoning the game in the middle of the 3rd set, while he was trailing 3 games to 2, due to persistent cramps, after 2 hours and 28 minutes of play. Laurent Lokoli had started the game well by winning the first set 6/4, before losing the second 6-4 as well.

12/01. Pierre-Louis Loubet returns to WRC 2
The Porto-Vecchiais driver, after four seasons spent in WRC rallying, returned to the lower level which had been successful for him, when he had been crowned world champion in 2019. Unfortunately, Pierre-Louis Loubet failed to confirm his potential at the highest level of rallying after spending two years at Hyundai and two more at Ford. Within his new Skoda team, “Pilouis” returned to competition at the end of January, in Qatar, in order to test his new car during the Qatar Rally (January 31 to February 2).

01/14. End of the Bastiaises adventure in the Coupe de France
All good things come to an end, and Gwendoline Djebbar's players learned it the hard way on Sunday January 14 with the reception of Dijon FCO during the round of 16 of the French Women's Cup. Never before has an island team reached this level of the competition. The protégés of President Alain Mosconi, had achieved a feat in the previous round by eliminating Saint-Priest away (1-2), then Châtenoy-le-Royal on penalties at home (0-0, 4-2 tab). Unfortunately, they remained powerless against professionals (10-0 defeat), but the score remained anecdotal even though the match was played in front of more than 800 spectators, enough to promote women's football on the island.

Trail
01/28. Julien Courbet wins on the Trail Blanc
18 kilometers swallowed up in barely 1 hour 26 minutes and 2 seconds, we do not know if the gendarme had a bus to take, but the fact remains that Julien Courbet left only crumbs for his pursuers, who nevertheless well hung, notably the runner-up, Léo Serca, who finished this Trail Blanc in 1h29'02. Like every year, this trail brought together more than 700 runners. Note the victory in the 8 km of Pierre Henri in 36 minutes and 21 seconds.
