At the age of 73, François Rebsamen, former mayor of Dijon and president of Dijon Métropole, was appointed this Monday, December 23, Minister of Regional Planning and Decentralization in the government led by François Bayrou.
This appointment provokes reactions among the people of Dijon and the political class.
“He knows the issues facing communities”
Sophie, shopkeeper on rue des Godrans: “I think it’s a good newsFrançois Rebsamen has done a lot for Dijon. If his experience can benefit the whole country, then why not? At 73, he proves that we can still have energy and of experience to resell to serve the country. »
Helder, student at UB: “He is someone who knows perfectly the issues of local communities and who already has a national vision thanks to his background. His experience at the head of the metropolis will allow him to better understand community challenges. »
“Dijon will no longer be his priority”
Jamila, mother: “Frankly, as a resident of Dijon, I have the impression that it abandon the city at a time when we still need solid projects for families and neighborhoods. Leaving for a national post is all well and good, but what do we gain? Dijon will no longer be his priorityand it will be felt. »
Julien, trader on rue du Château: “François Rebsamen may have the experience, but at his age, we can wonder if he is still in line with the expectations of the territories. We could have hoped for a minister youngermore in line with today's challenges such as digital or ecology. »
Nathalie Koenders: “Good news for Dijon and its metropolis”
Nathalie Koenders, current mayor of Dijon, is delighted with this appointment which she considers beneficial for the city: “I welcome the presence of François Rebsamen in government. It is very good news for Dijon and its metropolis. He made this choice with the simple desire to serve the country. He is a man of the left and gatheringand I know he will bring social justice to government. »
Nathalie Koenders also highlights the importance of having a government in place: “Our country needs stability. The French, businesses and communities have been waiting for this. For the rest, I will judge the politicians which are conducted rather than government casting. For France, I hope this government succeeds. »
Emmanuel Bichot: “A cold shower for the people of Dijon”
On the side of the municipal opposition, Emmanuel Bichotpresident of the Agir pour Dijon group, is critical: “We can clearly see that he did everything to enter the government. What is surprising is that he presented things differently a month ago, when he handed over his powers (as mayor to Nathalie Koenders, Editor's note). He said he wanted to devote himself to the metropolis and the people of Dijon. Today it is cold shower. Will he save time for the people of Dijon? That seems unlikely to me. What about the compensation of president of the metropolis? He had announced that this would be his only compensation. Today, it is paradoxical and quite shocking. »
Although he recognizes the technical skills of François Rebsamen on subjects linked to regional planning, Emmanuel Bichot deplores a move away from the initial promises: “François Rebsamen has taken down his last marshal's baton and will move away from the Dijonnais, contrary to what he had promis. »
François Sauvadet: “Trust the territories”
François Sauvadetpresident of the Côte-d'Or Departmental Council, welcomes the appointment of the new members of the government: “I would like to greet the new ministers of the Bayrou government and wish them success, because it is the future of the France in question. I have a thought for François Rebsamen who will represent his social democratic sensibility. »
The President of the Department calls for continuing a constructive dialogue : “President of Departments of France, I will continue a confident and demanding dialogue with the Prime Minister, as I was able to have with his predecessors. The time has come, more than ever, to trust the territories.
