A man already known to the police was shot and injured late Saturday afternoon near Villefranche-sur-Saône.
On Saturday shortly before 7 p.m., an emergency doctor at Gleizé hospital, located in the north of the Rhône department, called the police, when he had just received in the emergency room a man with a gunshot wound to the right calf. According to Progress the police quickly linked this injury to gunshots fired a little earlier in Villefranche-sur-Saône.
Ongoing investigation
Around 5 p.m., a resident called the police after seeing a group of people, one of whom was carrying a handgun, firing a shot aimed at the ground. When the police arrived, the group had disappeared.
According to the regional daily, the victim, already unfavorably known to the justice services, explained that he had been targeted by someone he did not know and for an unknown reason. An investigation was opened and is still underway to find the perpetrator of the shooting.
