Kaolack, Dec 23 (APS) – The organizing committee for events and activities of Fayda (COMAF) and the decentralized state services are doing everything possible for the smooth running of the annual Gamou of Taïba Niassene, in the department of Nioro du Rip (Kaolack, center), noted the APS.
In view of this religious event of international dimension, scheduled for January 15, the deputy governor of the Kaolack region in charge of development, Mamadou Habib Kamara, chaired, on Monday, a meeting of the regional development committee (CRD) devoted at the event. This celebrates the birth, in Taïba Niassene, of Cheikh Al Islam El Hadji Ibrahima Niass known as Baye (1900-1975)
The various services concerned, after noting the requests of the organizing committee, made commitments to respond favorably to the grievances raised. They made these commitments in the presence of the new president of the “Ansaru Dine” movement, Alioune Cissé Niang.
Other grievances that cannot be handled at the local level will be transmitted to central authorities for execution, Mr. Kamara said.
Safety, health, hygiene, sanitation, water, electricity and a good supply of foodstuffs to the market are among COMAF's grievances.
''We have invited the various State services to strictly respect the commitments they have made. For commitments that cannot be made at the regional level, correspondence has been sent to the various services concerned and we are awaiting their reactions,'' assured the administrative authority. He notes that this game is starting to take on an “exceptional dimension”.
It is to ensure good follow-up of requests that he proposed to set up a coordination framework which will bring together all the stakeholders, both at regional and central level for better efficiency in the management of concerns raised.
Vice-President Cheikh Tidiane Gaye presented the apologies of the prevented COMAF president, Cheikh Ibrahima Mamoune Niass known as Baye Mamoune.
''We come out of this meeting reassured because we discussed with complete sincerity. We are hopeful that with the baraka of the one whose birth is being celebrated, everything will return to normal so that we can organize a good game,'' he declared.
COMAF and the mayor of the commune of Taïba Niassène, Mouhamadou Habib Niasse, have, on behalf of the Caliph, Cheikh Mouhamadoul Mahi Ibrahima Niass, pleaded for the extension of the electricity network over a 12-kilometer line.
''We expressed this need in the name of the Caliph, because Taïba Niassene, currently, cannot receive all the guests who come to celebrate the birth of Sheikh Ibrahima Niass. And aware of this, the Caliph took a good part of the land title which is in the name of Baye Niass and, with the collaboration of the municipality, to distribute it to the disciples,'' explained Mr. Gaye.
It is for this reason, according to him, that this part concerned needs to be serviced with an extension of water and electricity to help the organizing committee in welcoming pilgrims.
