Jerome Berson, president of the Amicale association of residents and friends of the Bruyères-Vauguyon cities, explains the projects.
Did it seem obvious to take over from your father?
Until his death in October, and during his illness, I saw that the future of the Bruyères-Vauguyon residents' association was a real concern for him. He was so invested in organizing events and bringing the neighborhood to life. I made him a promise. In November we hosted the Christmas market with the members of the association, it was a bit of a test for me. And given the success, I told myself that the residents trusted me. The association has changed its statutes and is now called Amicale des inhabitants et amis des cites Bruyères-Vauguyon.
Thursday at the assembly, there were around thirty members. Is that encouraging?
Yes. I couldn't do anything without them and at the Christmas market, the locals were very present. Like the ladies from the Neighborhood Center workshops who worked for the Epsilone association, which improves the daily lives of placed children from the Perquois Pouponnière in Changé. The office came together very easily. Raymond Loison remains vice-president, treasurer Christiane Pay will be assisted by Claudine Boulard, Florence Gremeaux took the position of secretary and I was elected president. Now we will be able to continue the bric-a-brac, the cake with the lottery, the marches, the outings… The Christmas charity market. Everything my father had put in place.
Anything new too?
We will see with the team and the ideas of the residents. We would like to put back into operation the book box that my father had installed in Marcel-Paul Park, in an old telephone booth that a friend had given him. He was very unfortunate to see that it had been vandalized. We will try to get it back. It must be in a City department which offered to restore it by consolidating it with iron bars. We will also remain vigilant to improve living conditions in the neighborhood with support for families.
