The “Social Democrats of Senegal (SDS)”, a new political party chaired by Mohamed Lamine Manga, was created in Ziguinchor. This event was relayed by our colleague from the Senegalese Press Agency (APS).
Mohamed Lamine Manga, historian and environmentalist, defined the main lines of his party. Among the priorities of this movement are the promotion of transparency and accountability, good governance and strong parliamentary democracy. The pursuit of meritocracy is also a central element of their vision, as the APS specifies.
In terms of agricultural development, the SDS aims to implement a competitive and sustainable policy that focuses on the challenges of Senegalese farmers and breeders. The education sector is not left out, with the objective of adapting the system to current and geopolitical issues, as detailed during the launch ceremony.
Mohamed Lamine Manga's party is also committed to modernizing and developing infrastructure and transport. In the health sector, they are considering reforms for better access to care. In addition, the protection of ecosystems, as well as the establishment of forests and animal reserves, is part of their political priorities.
Convinced that Senegal cannot move forward with nepotism, Mohamed Lamine Manga highlights meritocracy and openly criticizes favoritism practices, a statement reported by the APS. It proposes a model of “national co-construction” in order to encourage the emergence of the country.
Finally, Manga, who holds a doctorate and is trained in higher education, brings with him extensive European academic experience. He has contributed to prestigious institutions and is engaged in promoting social democracy and democratic ecology in Senegal, according to information from the APS.
