. After the derailment of a TER in Saint-Etienne, the police launch a call for witnesses

Saturday morning, the curious were gathered along the SNCF track, near Place Bellevue. A TER was stationary there, in the middle of a bend, with at least one wheel visibly coming off the rail.

A section of the concrete parapet which runs along rue Buffon had fallen onto the tracks a few hours earlier. Entire blocks passed under the train, which derailed and came to rest against the platform.

An accident that occurred between 3 a.m. and 4 a.m.

As part of the investigations carried out by the Saint-Etienne police officers, a call for witnesses is launched to try to understand how the events unfolded.

According to the police, who were able to use video surveillance images, a vehicle hit the low wall located just above the railway line, between 3 a.m. and 4 a.m.
