After 200 dates in France and abroad of its Dom Juan… et les clowns (from Dom Juan by Molière), the Miranda Company this time dives into the myth of Cyrano de Bergerac, another masterpiece of our theatrical literature.
It offers a reading, always as light and respectful in a poetic universe, and places the clowns, who this time will be without noses, in the early days of silent cinema. Moving away from the expected image of the musketeer, our Cyrano becomes an actor or director who transforms his life into a film from the 1920s. He is masked like these “broken faces” whose faces have been reconstructed in bronze or ceramic. A wounded hero, he is the romantic artist who will see his story through to the end, sequence after sequence, until the “clap” at the end. The spectator then finds himself at the center of a “shoot”, a frantic and whirling round, a joyful hysteria of creation, of changes of scenery and characters. In this tribute to Méliès, brilliant craftsman of cinematographic illusion, the myth of Cyrano is reinvented before our eyes with humor and poetry.
