Windsor-Detroit Borderlink Limitedthe organization managing the tunnel on the Canadian side, announced an increase in prices which will come into force on January 1, 2025.
For credit card users, the cost of crossing the Windsor-Detroit tunnel will increase by 50 cents, bringing the fare to $7.25. For Nexpress users, the fare will be adjusted to $5.90 per crossing.
Tal Czudner, president and CEOCEO of Windsor-Detroit Borderlink Limited, explained that this increase is necessary to allow us to plan our future investment projects

Please note that return costs from Detroit to Windsor will be higher and will be billed in US dollars.
The Windsor-Detroit Tunnel, 2.5 kilometers long, connects downtown Windsor and Detroit in just 5 minutes. It is considered an important cross-border link, used by around 10,000 motorists every day.
A Windsor Transit bus departs every hour from downtown Windsor (new window) to cross the border in the tunnel to downtown Detroit, Michigan.
Ambassador Bridge officials also announced an increase in their rates starting January 1, 2025.
Earlier this month, the company revealed that the fee for crossing a vehicle will increase to $12 CAD, an increase of one dollar from 2024. For payments in U.S. dollars, the rate will increase to $9 , compared to $8 previously.
The Ambassador Bridge, which spans the Detroit River, transports 25% of goods crossing the border between Canada and the United States.
With the planned opening of the Gordie Howe Bridge in fall 2025 (new window)the third road link between Windsor and Detroit, the transportation dynamic in southwestern Ontario will experience a new evolution.
