Each year, the census allows us to know the number of people living in France and to determine the official population of each municipality. Being registered is a civic gesture, useful to all and obligatory. It makes it possible to adjust public action according to the actual needs of the population thanks to detailed knowledge of the latter (age, profession, mobility, housing, etc.).
In 2025, in our municipality, the population census will take place in two stages: from January 2 to 15 with the reconnaissance tour during which the enumerators will leave an information letter in the mailboxes of the citizens concerned warning them of their participation in the census. From January 16 to February 22 for the collection during which the enumerators will provide all the information necessary to carry out the census. People who have chosen the online census will be able to do so using the online process “The census and me” available on the City website – www.ville-Castres.fr – using the identifiers indicated on the notice that will provide the enumerator.
To guarantee the security and reliability of this operation, census takers will be recruited directly by the town hall. They will be provided with an official tricolor card, including their photo and the signature of the mayor. This measure aims to reassure residents and prevent any attempt at fraud.
Finally, it is important to emphasize that being registered is completely free. Citizens must remain vigilant against attempts at fraud, particularly from fraudulent sites which could demand payments.
