ICE HOCKEY – Magnus League: beats in overtime

Regulation time did not allow the Gothics of and the Boxers of to decide between themselves. In overtime, the Girondins quickly made the difference and won.

Returning from a stay in which probably would have deserved a better fate, both in the Coupe de on Wednesday (3-2), and in the championship two days later, the Amiens Gothiques continued with a third match in four days with the reception of the Bordeaux Boxers. Already without injured youngsters Besson and Tocquin, the Amiens lost Larinmaa to injury and Phelan, suspended after his fight in Grenoble on Friday. Reduced staff

It doesn't matter if Fouquerel or Kozun keeps the Gothiques cage, lately, both goalkeepers are having very good matches, despite the six goals conceded by the Canadian during the severe defeat in Isère. Back in goal, Fouky confirmed his current good form, especially against his former team. He intervened with authority in front of Rambello and Dusseau on several occasions. After a sluggish start, Mario Richer's players projected themselves forward, but like their counterparts, they came up against a wall called Papillon, the most effective goalkeeper since the start of the season (93.84%). Lavigne and Plagnat twice broke their teeth on the Boxers goalkeeper. It took a classy action to make him give in. Bergeron found the fault (1-0, 19’25)ideally served in the axis by Plagnat as first intention after the rapid play between Matima and Maïa. The latter came close to doubling the lead in the process, but he found Papillon's left post.

Justin Bergeron scored his seventh goal of the season against Grenoble.

Embarrassed in the middle of the first third, Fouquerel gave way to Kozun in the cages. The number 1 was quick to make his contribution by blocking Poudrier's shot. The Amiens were better since their opening score at the end of the first third and were more dangerous like Matima whose shot was repelled by Papillon. Not really worried until then, the Gothiques goalkeeper gave in to Guillaume who found an unstoppable angle above his shoulder and the puck ended its trajectory in the top corner (1-1, 28’10). Cepon, penalized twice since the start of the match, but without consequences, saw his throw blocked by Valtonen. The contacts intensified at the end of the period, Matima was even violently thrown against the railing after a duel with Lemaître, but it was not serious and number 12 returned to the ice.

In powerplay for the first time in the match, Amiens had the opportunity to regain the advantage, but only had one opportunity with Maïa's shot frozen by Papillon. Ineffective on superiority, the Gothics on the other hand killed their third and fourth numerical inferiority with a solid Kozun, well helped by the presence of his defenders. The momentum was for Bordeaux who were besieging the Amiens cage, thus preventing the Picards from taking out the puck and building. The most penalized team in the Magnus League with 102 penalties conceded since the start of the 2024-2025 financial year, Amiens was penalized for the fifth time in the match just over two minutes from the end of regulation time. The locals gave in but did not break with an imperial Kozun. On a nice number, Captain Lavigne was not far from finding Maïa in the center. In overtime, Lamarche, served by Poudrier, scored the Bordeaux victory goal after only 27 seconds in sudden death. Amiens must be satisfied with a point, the first scored against the Girondins this season and concludes a week where success was not on its side.
