L’Union Saint-Jean played at the Stadium, TMB continued, Colomiers won, the Fenix returns to the podium… Here are the tops, without really any flops, from the sports week in Toulouse!
Stade Toulousain Basket (National 2)
After Tours, it's the turn of Lorient to underestimate and be surprised (63-66) by Toros who become dangerous on the outside. Stade Basket therefore ends the year well against the CEP, and can allow itself a truce with optimistic thoughts for the rest of the season. Next match, Tuesday January 7 in Sables-d'Olonne.
Fenix Toulouse (Starligue)
Toulouse did the job. Even more, moreover, they dominated (40-33) Chambery to end the calendar year in style in front of their supporters. Admittedly, the match was a little slow to start, but it turned out to be one-sided once it got going. Nemanja Ilic signs 16 goals (including a perfect 9/9 on penalties). Enough to settle comfortably in fourth place in the championship
Toulouse Métropole Basket (Women's Ligue 2)
The Pioneers continue their momentum. They won their eighth consecutive victory (84-55) against the team ofAulnoye. A clear score which sums up Toulouse's domination of the championship. Assetou Traoré, woman of the match, notably scored 21 points. Next meeting on Saturday January 11 on the grounds of La Tronche Meylan, at 8 p.m.
Colomiers Rugby (Pro D2)
La Colombe put four tries to two (29-20) at home against bearded. A victory won mentally by the Columérins who showed themselves to be particularly determined and tough in defense. If the Biterrois tried to turn the match around, with a try eight minutes from the final whistle, the locals did not let it happen and even allowed themselves to score after the siren.
Toulouse Football Club (French Cup)
Tef was scared for its entry into contention during the Coupe de France. They faced the amateurs of Haut-Lyonnais (National 3) and almost did not go beyond the stage of the 32nd finals. Niklas Schmidt was notably sent off for a dangerous tackle at the half-hour mark, leaving his teammates at 10. Luckily, the number of Lyonnais on the pitch was also reduced following a similar foul, 30 minutes later.
The debates were balanced and ended in penalties… Which TéFéCé almost lost, since Franck Magri missed the very first attempt. Fortunately, the other attackers ensured and Alex Dominguez stopped a shot to allow his team to pass the round.
Union Saint-Jean (Coupe de France)
Will a large defeat (1-4) against Monaco (2nd in Ligue 1), in a stadium with 15,000 supporters can really count as a flop when you are an amateur club? Not really, it's even the highlight of the sporting history of this Regional 3 team.
If there was a real difference in level between the Little Thumb of the match and the big name opposite, it must be emphasized that the players never failed, even scored and can benefit from the memorable memories generated by this meeting. With a special mention for the great performance of the goalkeeper Fawzi Rabyi who, in addition to shining for 96 minutes, saved two penalties.
Women's Rugby (Elite 1)
This weekend, there were big clashes in women's rugby. Starting with the very heavy defeat (8-41) of Blagnac against Bordeaux. The Caouecs bowed after being dominated throughout the meeting by the almost southerners from the north of the Garonne. This is the only real flop of the week.
Meanwhile, Stade Toulousain rolled (3-41) by scoring six tries against Lyon. The Stadistes continued without leaving the slightest suspense, scoring five tries in the first period.
Next week's meetings:
- Saint-Nazaire – Toulouse (Spikeligue), Sunday 29 at 5 p.m.
Rugby
- Toulouse Stadium – Stade Français (Top 14), Sunday 29 at 9:05 p.m.
