bus and tram traffic will be disrupted for Christmas and New Year

Like every year for the end-of-year holidays, the CTS network will be somewhat turned upside down on December 24 and 31. For the occasion, here is a short usage guide, particularly for residents who arrive in town after 7 p.m.

While the Christmas market continues to shine its beautiful lights on Strasbourg, the end of year holidays are fast approaching. And who says parties and moments of celebration, necessarily means some disruptions on our dear and tender CTS network.

On December 24 and 31, to celebrate Christmas and New Year, it will no longer be possible to ride an iron snake or a bee-colored bus from a certain time. Here is the information you need to know to be able to get organized, notably for Strasbourg residents returning to their city for Christmas.

For December 24, no trams or buses will run from 7 p.m.

The rule for December 24 in Strasbourg is very simple: from 7 p.m., no more buses or trams will run. In detail, the last departures will be at 7 p.m. at Homme-de-Fer for lines A, B, C, D and F and at République for line E. For line G, the last departure from Gare-Centrale is at 7:16 p.m., while the one in Rotterdam will be at 7:01 p.m. All information is available here.

  • Line B : Green Mountain

  • Line C : Gallia, Observatory and Neuhof Rodolphe-Reuss

A device suitable for traveling in complete peace of mind during New Year’s Eve

For December 31, the rule is slightly modified: if the network will also stop at 7 p.m., it will then give way to a special New Year's Eve adapted service, which will take over from 7:30 p.m. In detail, lines A, B, C, D, E and F as well as 11 bus lines will serve all of the towns in the conurbation (those which are usually served by night bus) all evening from 7:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. then throughout the night from 2:30 a.m. until 4:30 a.m. Traffic will resume normally on 1is January 2025 from 5 a.m. with public holiday times. The specific plan can be found here.

From the Homme de Fer station, tram departures are scheduled every half hours. In detail:

  • For the lines A and B : 19h30, 20h00, 20h30, 21h00, 21h30, 22h00.
  • For line Cin the direction of Central Station: 7:26 pm, 7:56 pm, 8:30 pm, 8:56 pm, 9:25 pm, 9:55 pm and 10:25 pm. Directed by Neuhof R. Reuss: 7:30 pm, 7:58 pm, 8:28 pm, 8:58 pm, 9:28 pm and 9:58 pm.
  • For line Din the direction of Kehl Rathaus: 7:42 p.m., 8:15 p.m., 8:45 p.m., 9:15 p.m. and 9:45 p.m. In the direction of Poteries: 7:34 p.m., 8:06 p.m., 8:36 p.m., 9:06 p.m., 9:36 p.m. and 10:06 p.m.

For lines E and F, traffic will be a tad more technical: line E trams will run according to the usual route from Robertsau L'Escale to République, then according to the route of tram F from République to Comtes. But be careful: from République station the trams will indicate “line F direction Comtes”. Departing from Comtes, the tram will display line F “République” and will continue to the Robertsau L’Escale terminus. Finally, Place d'Islande station will no longer be served after 7 p.m. Don't be fooled.
