Travelers prone to vertigo will just have to hold on to the railing of the monumental 40 meter long escalators which cross the Villejuif – Gustave Roussy station. After seven years of work, the Société des Grands Projets (SGP) handed over the keys to the metro station located at the meeting point of line 14 and the future line to Île-de-France Mobilités (IDFM) this Thursday, December 19. 15 of the Grand Paris Express, prior to its opening in January – the exact date has yet to be fixed. And to reach the docks, you will have to go down to the bottom of a gigantic well 50 meters deep and 30 meters in diameter, which required the excavation of 35,000 m3 of earth. Located at the foot of the Gustave Roussy hospital, at the top of a hillock, “it will be the second deepest station in the network, after Saint-Maur Créteil”emphasizes Bernard Cathelain, member of the board of directors of the SGP.
