A very bad end to the weekend in terms of weather. Storm Enol will cross France this Sunday, December 22, 2024, bringing significant gusts of wind and heavy snowfall in mid-mountains to France. In this context, what weather should we expect in Paris and Île-de-France?
Météo-France forecasts in Paris and Île-de-France
Météo-France announces, over a large northern half, numerous clouds and showers sometimes accompanied by snow or sleet, particularly in the northeast quarter. Wind gusts will reach 80-100 km/h near the English Channel, 70-80 km/h on the Atlantic coast, and 60-70 km/h inland.
In Paris and Île-de-France, where it is raining heavily this Sunday, a westerly wind will blow with gusts of 75 km/h in the morning and possibly 80 km/h in the afternoon. The region has also been placed on yellow alert. Paris town hall has decided to close green spaces and cemeteries this Sunday.
Météo France also forecasts showers with very cloudy to overcast weather and sometimes moderate showers. Sleet and snowdrifts are possible in the afternoon and early evening. The expected cumulative rainfall is between 5 and 10 mm and locally 15 to 20 mm.
Good weather returns on Monday
No snow to expect like in other regions. Snowfall will occur in the massifs initially above 1200 m in the north of the Alps, 1400 m in the south of the Alps, and 1800 m in the Pyrenees.
“The weather conditions with strong wind and snow could be complicated around the ski resorts,” warns Météo-France, which expects 20 to 40 cm of snow throughout the day in the Alps from 1300 to 1400 m on the north-facing terrain. -west, more than 60 cm from 1700-1900 m. “The snow could stick to the ground on the road passes from the afternoon, but especially in the evening,” warns Météo-France.
In Île-de-France, the return of good weather with finally sunshine is announced for Monday. This should shine generously. We will have to take advantage of it because from Tuesday, the clouds should return to the Ile-de-France sky.
