Football – Coupe de France: New feat for Thaon who eliminates Amiens!

Amiens opens the score

The match begins on a heavy pitch, making travel complicated for both teams. During the first fifteen minutes, Thaonnais and Amiénois observed each other, but the first alert did not take long to come. Kandil, well placed at the far post, strikes at goal, but the ball crashes onto the crossbar. A fright for the Vosges, who cracked a few moments later. On a corner taken by the same Kandil, Urhoghide emerges and places an unstoppable header (0-1, 21'). The people of Thaon are not giving up, however. Little by little, they leave their camp and begin to push their opponents. Despite some interesting opportunities, the score remained unchanged until the break. But coach Romain Chouleur's speech at half-time gives new impetus to his team.

The quick equalization that restarts everything

Returning from the locker room, the scenario becomes ideal for Thaon. From the 46th minute, a strike from Lam was blocked by the Picard goalkeeper. Petitpain, perfectly placed, springs to take the leather and equalize (1-1)! The Colombière stadium explodes, and Amiens understands that nothing will be easy against this National 3 team full of character. The visitors, stung, tried to regain the advantage. Mafuta, ideally served, thinks he scores, but Vosges captain Rother sacrifices himself with a heroic save. As the rain increases, fatigue overtakes the organisms. The people of Thaon, buoyed by their courage and solidarity, are holding on.

Lecoanet, the hero of the evening

Romain Chouleur made a tactical change by launching Lecoanet 20 minutes from time, replacing Oumeddour who played a good game like his teammates. And this choice will prove decisive. In the 84th minute, on a free kick poorly cleared by the Amiens defense, Villa countered the ball, which returned to Lecoanet's feet. The new entrant does not tremble and sends the sphere into the back of the net (2-1). The stadium capsizes with happiness. The last minutes, although stressful, confirm the feat.

A historic performance

By eliminating Amiens for the second time in three confrontations, the Thaonnais prove once again that they know how to transcend themselves in this competition.
The team is now looking forward to the draw which will take place this evening. The dream? Facing a Ligue 1 club and continuing to write this beautiful love story with the Coupe de France.
