As Christmas Eve approaches, we already know that snow will not be among the guests in the Marseille city. However, what will the weather be like on the evening of December 24 in Marseille and Bouches-du-Rhône?
Paul Marquis, expert for Météo du 13, gives us his details.
Very windy on December 24
If the wind blew very strong at the end of the week in Marseille, Christmas Eve will also be rough, although to a lesser extent.
“There will be a lot of mistral, all day, on December 24,” predicts Paul Marquis, with “gusts of 90 to 100 km/h between Marseille and the Côte Bleue.”
As the day goes on, things will calm down: “For New Year's Eve, however, there is a strong chance that the mistral will fall in Marseille, Aubagne or Aix-en-Provence,” continues the weather expert. “But it will remain quite sustained, up to 90 km/h, in Istres or around Etang de Berre.”
A Christmas Day under the sun
On the 25th, Christmas Day, “the wind will drop almost everywhere, except in the Rhône Valley,” explains Paul Marquis. Despite everything, the good weather will be there and plenty of sunshine is forecast.
Temperatures will range between 3/4 degrees in the Pays Aixois and 6/8 degrees close to the coast in the morning, then 5/6 degrees has 11/14 degreesin the afternoon, still heading towards the coast.
Although the blue sky will be there, “it will not be at all a Christmas on the balcony”, explains Paul Marquis, “the wind accentuating a feeling of cold”. It will be up to the holidays to take care of warming hearts, therefore.
