In Chartres, the most unmissable
The crèche of Chartres Cathedral, installed at the entrance, at the level of the south tower, under the 18th century rood screen, has aroused the admiration of visitors for more than fifteen years. Davit Davoyan, sacristan at the cathedral, stages each year the characters who come to take their place there during the Sundays of Advent. The Bois-Paris garden center provides the plantings for the decor. Davit Davoyan adds moss, picked from the forest and watered every day. He also planted wheat which is beginning to sprout.
“I start thinking about directing it a month before,” he explains. “This year, the character of Joseph has also been restored. » Visitors, under the spell of this nativity scene, willingly light a candle there. They will soon be able to take the image home with them since a postcard is being planned.
