Coupe de France: Montpellier and Le Havre collapse in style

This Saturday, a new day of matches took place as part of the 32nd finals of the Coupe de France, where the elimination of Montpellier particularly attracted attention.

After a foul suffered by Guéla Doué in the area, Luca Pélissier came forward to take the penalty, but Karl-Johan Johnsson leaned down to deflect the ball (38′). Strasbourg opened the scoring in the second half. Following a corner, Andrey Santos was best placed to head back for Nicolas Level (58′).

The Calais goalkeeper made a mistake on a cross from the right, allowing Sékou Mara to give the Alsatians the advantage (73'). Mara then doubled the lead in the 89th minute to ensure Strasbourg qualified.

The start of the match could seem promising for the Aiglons when Jacques-André Luciani committed a foul generating a penalty in favor of Nice. However, Nice's hopes were dashed when Sofiane Diop's shot was saved by the opposition goalkeeper. To pile up the difficulties, Corte took the lead with a headed goal from Christopher Boussemart in the 11th minute. Things quickly got out of hand for the OGCN.

Nantes came back into the match thanks to Matthis Abline, who opened the scoring in the 21st minute with a nice strike from the right. It seemed the canary wasn't finished. He then demonstrated his finishing skills with a low shot in the 33rd minute to double his tally.

Nathan Zézé got the better of everyone following a corner and added a decisive goal for Nantes at the Stade Bauer (63′). FC Nantes brought the score to 4-0 with a nice pass from Kelvin Amian for Mostafa Mohamed (82′).

Montpellier experienced a difficult first period, dominated in the 43rd minute, when Maël Zogba concluded an unfortunate action from Nicolas Pays, deflected by Abdelnour Soualhia.

Following an inspection carried out by the prefecture of Indre-et-Loire and the town hall of Tours, it was found that the local club “was not able to take the necessary measures to ensure the smooth running of the match in terms of welcoming the public”. So, the match was canceled at the start of the day.

The bottom of Ligue 2 was quickly in difficulty when Bourgoin-Jallieu opened the scoring at the first opportunity. Taking advantage of the passivity of the Martigues defense, Pierre Kohser scored with a right shot (3′).

The fifth division team quickly increased their lead to 2-0. Celal Bozkurt doubled the lead following a pass from Kohser (11′). A hand from Ronan Jay allowed Mahame Siby to reduce the score like a mousetrap (23′). Everything seemed to return to normal at Pierre-Rajon.

Kohser was in all his states. Launched to the right, he fired a cross to give the Berjallians a two-goal lead. What a first act!

Finally, Bozkurt scored the winning goal which almost ensured qualification in the 66th minute with a powerful right-footed shot, sealing the fate of the Martégaux.

Julien Domingues opened the scoring for Cannes. Grenoble was unable to stop the ball and lost the aerial duel. The attacker continued and scored from close range (9′).

The Isérois equalized immediately thanks to Théo Valls (12′). The match promised and it was. Domingues scored two goals with a superb angled shot, after Cheikh Ndoye delivered an excellent pass, where Chafik Abbas had to intervene with his back to the goal. The striker, who has already scored six goals in this Cup, was the ideal assistant (19′).

Ndoye, formerly of Angers and 2017 finalist with SCO, scored on Grenoble's defense, while Bobby Allain was too low, allowing Cannes to take a two-goal lead (39').

At the start of stoppage time, Nesta Zahui, who had just entered, fired an unstoppable right foot shot (90+1). In the end, all this performance was in vain, with GF38 being eliminated by a team two divisions below.

The Calvados club opened the scoring thanks to Théo Fontaine, just before the hour mark. After a convincing first half from the Reunion team, which did not score, the local team took the advantage ( 59′).

Although Saint-Denis tried to surround the opposing goal to equalize, it was Dives-Cabourg who scored the goal through Alban Bekambo, well placed to push the ball deep following an intervention by Tony Derfla (75').

Niklas Schmidt was sent off for a dangerous tackle! The German player literally lit a fuse while Toulouse did not seem in danger (27′). Rudy Loirette was also sent off, leaving the two teams at ten (67′).

Saint-Brieuc opens the scoring. Following a corner taken by Guillaume Beghin, Stan Janno scored with a header, offering victory to the fourth division club which put Le Havre in a delicate situation (80').

This goal was enough to make this meeting a real victory.
