Atlético de Madrid never died. Like last November 6, on the pitch of Paris Saint-Germain, in the Champions League, the Colchoneros overturned a poorly started match, and won a precious victory in the final seconds, against their Barcelona rival (1-2). The Norwegian Alexander Sorloth was the savior of the Madrilenians, in the 90th + 6, by pushing an offering from Nahuel Molina into the goals.
Barcelona struck first, however, in the 30th minute, when Pedri finished a talented move with his young compatriot Gavi. Suffering in the first half, the Colchoneros, with a discreet Antoine Griezmann (still no goal scored against Barça in his career), did not create the slightest opportunity and did not attempt the slightest strike on goal.
Atletico alone leader, Barça under threat from Real
The Madrilenians' second half was not much more enticing, but they, as is often the case, did the essentials. A first goal from Rodrigo de Paul on the hour mark gave them hope, before the chances multiplied on both sides. Pablo Barrios, Raphinha, Dani Olmo and Pedri all had chances, but Jan Oblak and Iñaki Pena put on the show, and blocked all attempts. Alexander Sorloth finally took advantage of the last offensive of the match to collect two precious points.
The Colchoneros, who had not won in Barcelona against Barça since 2006, now have 41 points after this seventh victory in a row in La Liga. This is three points more than their evening opponent who remains second before the meeting of Real Madrid (3rd, 37 pts) against Sevilla on Sunday (4:30 p.m.).
