The minister and spokesperson for the presidency, Ousseynou Ly, revealed that the former official website of the Presidency of the Republic under the mandate of Macky Sall cost 85,000 euros per year, or approximately 55 million CFA francs, for its maintenance.
This substantial amount was the result of a contract established with a foreign company, now not renewed by the current administration. This decision, taken with a view to reducing public spending, explains, according to Ousseynou Ly, the inaccessibility of the presidential website during the first six months of the new presidency, between April and November. He specified that the contract was not renewed in order to rethink the digital management methods of the presidency while reducing costs.

The minister insisted that this measure is part of a strategy to rationalize public spending, a priority for the current administration. At the same time, he spoke of the need to strengthen the country's digital sovereignty by turning to local solutions or more adapted to the institutional needs of Senegal. Since November, the situation has been restored with a new version of the presidential website now operational. The latter is supposed to meet the standards of transparency, accessibility and modernity while being less costly for the taxpayer.
