a “mini comic Boum” to end the year in style

The comparison was obvious. It's a real “mini comic Boum” which the Maison de la BD hosted on Saturday December 21, 2024. Managed by the same association as the comic strip festival, the Blésoise structure had planned, as usual, an afternoon to celebrate Christmas a few days in advance.

“It’s a great way to end the year, to get together after the festival before the holidays and to receive local authors that we appreciate”summarizes Jean-Charles Enriquez, president of the bd Boum association.

Seven authors and illustrators made the trip. Among them, the Touraine designer Titwane. This regular at the place and at Boum comics came to sign his latest works, including The Vigilant, immersion aboard the nuclear submarine, released in September, with a screenplay by Raynal Pellicer.

“We have more time to talk to people”

As with comic book festivals, this event was an opportunity for him “to meet other authors and colleagues”but in a much more atmosphere “relaxed and peaceful”. “We have more time to talk to people”he appreciates.

Same story with her neighbor at the stand, the designer Ida, whose family home is located in Molineuf. “We can meet readers that we have less time to see at bd Boum”explains the one whose work, Kamalariis the subject of an exhibition at the Maison de la BD until 1is February 2025.

This mini-festival is also a way to make yourself known. This is particularly the case of Virginie Roger, school teacher in Romorantin and Gièvres, who has published three novels “light and funny” in the space of two years, the last of which, Mamie Cocotte gets involvedlast April, or the Un Poil bleu association.

This Blésoise micropublishing house has released, since its creation in 2019, twelve illustrated works, with or without text, and printed in . His philosophy is to “to discover authors and illustrators who have not or rarely published”, presents Irène Vanacker.

The treasurer of the association came on Saturday with the author Michel Maraone, also “storyteller and acrobat”who released the book The Oak and the Grigouwith illustrator Maxime Schmitt, primarily intended for children.

“Bring in another audience”

The latter could participate, on Saturday, in a manufacturing workshop around the book series Funny little creatures, take part in an activity around board games and comics and attend the cartoon reading of a story. A good way “to bring in another audience that we wouldn’t see at bd Boum”, believes Jean-Charles Enriquez.

Fanny, Laurent and their daughter Agathe are not regulars at the Maison de la BD. However, they spent a while ” nice “ and appreciate seeing that culture can still be “be accessible and free”: “It’s important, especially for children. »
