When Jacques-André Luciani was penalized in the 3rd minute of the game for this foul on Ndombele, USC Corti was given little chance against the Europeans from OGC Nice.
But Luciani quickly remembered everyone by stopping Diop's penalty.
In a stop that went from the wings to his partners who were going to strengthen in the 11th minute when with their first free kick of the game, the Cortenais shook this OGC Nice which had not performed at Furiani for many seasons.
The free kick struck by Menozzi 35m on the right side found Boussemart's head at the far post. The Cortenais cross recovery hit the mark in front of the 5,000 spectators who did not shy away from their pleasure…
What if USC Corti created the feat?
In any case, Luciani believed in it as hard as iron by returning the attempts of Clauss, Bard or even Nandjou even if, at the time, it was Luciani's left post which saved the USCC.
A little before the break, Nandjou's sliding tackle – instantly sent off – aimed at Raphaël Menozzi's ankle condemned Nice to continue at 10.
Boon or not for the “Montagnards”?
It was too early to say.
Returning to the locker room, the Faderne players could believe it.
And at the restart it was always Luciani who intervened on Nice's attempts like on this free kick taken directly by Diop, but Corte by Rimane caused a lot of hassle for Dupé who returned in disaster to his cage to capture the attempt on his line lob from Cortenais!
We came very close to the knockout.
This was probably more than Nice could handle.
Hence this double opportunity which led to nothing, then especially this equalization obtained on the hour mark.
It started with a curled shot from Bouanami which, blocked, was recovered by Ndombele whose shot placed in the goal, hit the mark.
Shortly after, Guessand also had the opportunity to find his way to the goal, but that was without counting, once again, with Luciani (68th).
With a quarter of an hour to go, anything could happen.
And Corte, well in place, stood up to the image of the devil Luciani who caught the cross shot from the returning Moukoko on his line and then slammed Clauss's attempt for a corner.
All this augured well for the penalty shootout…
In this game, the exercise turned in favor of the Nicois who succeeded in their 5 shots.
But USC Corti was not unworthy.
Now despite the disappointment of the elimination, he will have to work harder to try to stay in No. 3.
