A new playground no longer resists Marco Odermatt: the descent of Val Gardena. The day after his 3rd place in super-G, the Nidwalden signed his first victory in the Dolomites on Saturday, the 40th for him in the World Cup. The big boss of the Tour thus equals Pirmin Zurbriggen's record.
A great classic of the Cirque Blanc, the “Saslong” is not known for being a particularly difficult descent, although it is a little over two minutes long. Less technical than some, it was finally tamed by an incredibly precise “Odi” in the “Ciaslat”, a succession of terrain movements at the end of the route. Beaten by Justin Murisier during the descent of Beaver Creek, Odermatt will recover his red bib. The Valaisan finished 15th, 1 second 27 behind his big friend. Alexis Monney is 16th (+1'42).

The small world of skiing has had confirmation, if any was needed, that Franjo von Allmen will have to be reckoned with for the decade to come. Revealed last winter, precisely in Val Gardena, the 23-year-old Bernese is a very good runner-up to Odermatt (+0'45) and ahead of Ryan Cochran-Siegle (+0'46).
The other Swiss had a good overall performance: Stefan Rogentin is 10th (+0'68), Lars Rösti 12th (+0'76), Livio Hiltbrand 17th (+1'05) and Alexis Monney 26th (+1' 42).
