three departments of the North-West placed on orange vigilance for violent winds this Sunday

Gusts of up to 130 km/h, accompanied by thunderstorms, will sweep across the English Channel, Ille-et-Vilaine and the Côtes d'Armor.

The wind will blow strongly on the Channel coasts on Sunday December 22. Manche, Ille-et-Vilaine and Côtes d'Armor are placed on orange alert for violent winds by Météo . These departments will be concerned by “strong gusts of wind”of the “stormy showers, accompanied by sleet”specifies the meteorological agency.

The gusts will strengthen from late morning and will last until mid-afternoon. Gusts could reach 120, even 130 km/h locally on the coast. Inland, they will be around 100 km/h.

This unstable weather can be explained by “a rapid northwest flow”caused by the concomitance of two phenomena: “A depression named “Enol” located west of Norway and a powerful anticyclone located in the North Atlantic”

Météo France also warns that “violent and frequent gusts” will also affect Finistère, and Seine-Maritime. The meteorological agency does not rule out “a worsening level of vigilance”.
