Move around, there will be nothing to see, at the Vallée du Cher stadium, this Saturday, December 21. “FC Tours was not able to put in place a system to guarantee that the match would take place in terms of welcoming the public“, the explanation is succinct, on the website of the French Football Federation, but the decision is irrevocable. The match of the 32nd day of the Coupe de France which was to pit FC Tours against FC Lorient is canceled.
The ax falls a few hours before kick-off, which was scheduled for 6 p.m. The Touraine club posted a post on its social networks, referring to the press release from its federation. A decision taken “in consultation with the Mayor and the prefect”, underlines the club.
The FFF indicates that “lThe Organizing Commission of the Coupe de France will examine the follow-up to be given“. Two options seem possible: a postponement of the meeting, or an automatic victory for Lorient.
The Vallée du Cher stadium was however adorned with its most beautiful colors, and the meeting was particularly anticipated.
The captain of the Touraine team, Léo Schwechlen, spoke in particular to our colleagues from the New Republic. By returning to his “club of heart”, he hoped to revive it. 8,000 people were expected for the meeting.
FC Tours, which plays in Regional 1, wanted to try a David versus Goliath match, against the Lorient team, which plays in Ligue 2.
