A few days before Christmas Eve, excitement reigns at the Place Leclerc market in Angers. In the busy aisles, traders and customers are busy completing the final preparations, between choosing oysters, fish, fruit and vegetables and ordering mature cheeses.
The beating heart of the Angevin festivals
This Saturday morning, the Place Leclerc market, one of the largest in Angers, attracts a large crowd. Located in the city center, every week it brings together various stands offering fresh produce, local specialties, and a friendly atmosphere.
“The holidays are a key moment for us. Customers come looking for quality and advice for successful festive meals”explains a seafood producer. At his side, Isabelle, a regular customer, adds: “I come here every year for my oysters. It has become a tradition. »
A wide choice for festive tables
The stalls are full of culinary treasures: oysters, foie gras, fruits and vegetables, but also cold meats and artisanal breads. For some, this is the opportunity to place an order for Tuesday morning, when the market will be held exceptionally, due to the holidays. “We want to make sure everything is perfect for Christmas, so we anticipate”confides Jean-Paul, a lover of local products.
Place Lafayette and Grégoire Bordillon, the excitement is just as palpable. These two other markets complete the Saturday market offering to satisfy all desires. Tomorrow Sunday is the Monplaisir market meeting.
Changes to better serve during the holidays
Due to the public holidays on Wednesdays, December 25 and January 1, the Place La Fayette market will be brought forward to Tuesdays, December 24 and 31, as will the Place Leclerc market. “These adjustments allow everyone to do their shopping in the best conditions”specifies a representative of the town hall.
Between a warm atmosphere and exceptional products, the Angers markets are essential stops for preparing a memorable New Year's Eve. For the people of Angevin, all that remains is to let themselves be guided by the flavors and the festive spirit of Christmas.
