Surprise for the followers of the two clubs: Tours – Lorient will not take place this Saturday, December 21, 2024, as planned, at 6 p.m. Indeed, the match counting for the 32nd finals of the Coupe de France was simply canceled by the French Football Federation, five hours before the theoretical kick-off.
“The prefecture of Indre-et-Loire and the town hall of Tours noted that Tours FC was not able to put in place a system to guarantee the match was held in terms of welcoming the public. Consequently, the decision was taken in consultation with the stakeholders to cancel the meeting. Spectators are asked not to go to the Vallée du Cher stadium. The organizing committee for the Coupe de France will examine the follow-up to be taken,” explains the FFF.
A quote considered too high?
According to information from La Nouvelle République, securing the match was stuck between the different parties, Tours FC having wanted to review the system already validated by the Prefecture of Indre-et-Loire a few days before the match, due to a quote considered too high.
Unable to provide minimum security, the decision was then made to cancel the match.
