FC Nantes is a comic opera whose last act is not yet known. A twist which will allow Antoine Kombouaré not only to be on the bench this Saturday evening in Saint-Ouen (93) against JA Drancy (N3) but also during the resumption of training scheduled for December 30. From there to saying that Kanak was comforted by its leadership, there is a step that we will not take because history was written slightly differently.
Plan A, plan B…
Antoine Kombouaré had a meeting this Friday, December 20 with Franck Kita at the start for a preliminary dismissal interview. Moreover, the club's Human Resources director, Caty Bancarel, was scheduled to attend. The defeat in Brest (4-1) should have served to press the red button. The delays and the renunciation of Sergio Conceicao who had not followed up changed nothing. FC Nantes had released its plan B.
In the minds of the Nantes leaders, everything was tied up. The press conference presenting the new coach, Habib Beye, looking for a first experience in Ligue 1 after having brought Red Star up to L2 last spring, was even scheduled for the end of the morning. Finally, as Ouest-France announced, everything collapsed, after the problems encountered by the former Canal Plus consultant in forming his new staff.
Started at 11:30 a.m., the interview between Franck Kita and Antoine Kombouaré went rather well. The son of WK and the 61-year-old Kanak discussed the modifications that could be made for the resumption of training in substance and form.
End of the series?
Does all this mark the end of the series? Temporarily anyway. Just a sort of Christmas truce, a pacification that will last if everything goes well. The family is regaining its rights but the management of FC Nantes will continue to prospect. She just leaves herself some extra time given the busy start of the year with meetings against Lille and Monaco. Nantes is 14th in Ligue 1 with two points ahead of Le Havre, in the first relegation position.
The club will in any case be active on the transfer market and would seek to recruit no less than four additional players, even if it means having to disappoint even more and push some to look elsewhere before January 31.
