“Something was wrong”, Aymeric Luc’s big regrets about the end of his contract with

This Saturday, Aymeric Luc will return to an environment that he has been around for a few years, since is traveling to Mayol for the 12th day of Top 14. This experience, if it started very well with a very heavy usage over the first two seasons, didn't end as well.

Nine matches: this is Aymeric Luc's assessment of his last season with the RCT. Limited playing time which must have helped convince her to join the Section Paloise, where he has already played more than all of last season. But even more than the sporting aspect, there was also the context of this departure. Because Aymeric Luc long believed that he would stay in Toulon. He talked about what happened with Matin, the reasons for his departure, strongly linked to the arrival of Melvyn Jaminet. The recruitment of the international international has multiplied the questions in Aymeric Luc's head regarding his playing time.

I felt that the playing time that Toulon was going to offer me was not going to make me happy in (…) In Toulon, I felt that I was no longer a priority. I had played a lot until then, but I was convinced that my playing time would decrease from season to season

(…) Our negotiations were advanced for an extension in Toulon. We even reached an agreement. But it was at this moment that the RCT completed the arrival of Melvyn (Jaminet). I think the club wanted to have us both in the number 15 position, but I also knew that there were many of us in the back triangle, and that the arrival of Melvyn brought a high quality player/scorer who would playing every weekend (…) I thought it was going to be a problem. And if I was the guy who ended up on the sidelines, and my playing time dropped, I wouldn't be happy anymore.

“I was disappointed, but I gave everything”

The arrival of Melvyn Jaminet is one thing, but it is obviously not the only point that made Aymeric Luc tick. Because the current rear of Pau had concluded an agreement in principle with the RCT. But this agreement in principle obviously never materialized on paper, officially. So there were too many signals. Too many negative signals to stay fulfilled in Toulon. As luck would have it, Aymeric Luc seized the opportunity with the offer from the Paloise Section.

It's true that we agreed with Pierre, but I never received the contract. After one, two, three weeks, I realized something was wrong. And in this space-time, Pau has arrived. Everything was negotiated in three days, so I understood that my future was probably not going to take place in Toulon.

I only had one desire: to finish my adventure well (…) I was disappointed, but I gave everything, because I didn't want to harbor the slightest regret.

Even if Aymeric Luc may have some regrets about this failed final with the Rugby Club Toulonnais, he has very strong memories with this club which “marked his life”. “I didn't like the ending, it made me sad, angry, but that's part of rugby. Careers are not linear and I prefer to use that for the future”he adds. Wise.
