An inmate from Poissy prison in Yvelines escaped on Friday December 20 during his transfer to the Moroccan consulate, franceinfo learned from the police, confirming information from AFP and the Actu17 site.
This man in his forties had to renew his identity card at the consulate in Pontoise (Val-d'Oise). Under prison escort, he took advantage of a cigarette break to flee, according to the police.
This man was serving a 14-year sentence for murder. The Versailles public prosecutor's office has opened an investigation into an organized gang escape, adds the information and communications service of the national police (Sicop).
