Auchan employees are also hard at work cleaning the trolleys.
This Saturday, December 21, it was 5 a.m. when Auchan employees saw tractors arriving, “lots of tractors” from the Tarbes road. “We just had time to remove our cars from the parking lot,” commented one of them this morning.
The machines then flooded the parking lot with slurry, then blocked the access points with tires, manure, plastic bins, branches, etc. An action which was not claimed but which was denounced by Rural Coordination (CR) 64. ” We completely disagree with what happened this morning. There are other ways to make your voice heard, such as product labeling, without annoying consumers on Christmas Eve. “We had no indication last night that would make us think of that. “It’s the biggest Saturday of the year, everything is ready in the store,” laments this manager whose hypermarket had already been targeted in January by an action by farmers. “We understand their problems, we have a lot of empathy for them but this is a big blow for the teams. And also the gallery traders or those who run the chalets and who are small independents,” adds Marianne Geffrotin.
“We hope that customers will still come,” she admits with a slightly sad smile.
