Floods between and Saint-Étienne: the SNCF reimbursement platform is open

SNCF has activated an online reimbursement platform for users affected by traffic disruptions between and Saint-Étienne last October after bad weather.

Good news for travelers used to the Lyon/Saint-Étienne line: the SNCF and the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes Region have just made it available reimbursement of subscriptions up to 50% following the bad weather of October 17 and 18, 2024.

For several days, traffic had been disrupted, or even cut, between Givors and Saint-Étienne, forcing users to take substitute buses.

“Aware of the difficulties encountered by travelers, the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes Region has decided to implement an exceptional compensation measure of 50% of the amount of the TER subscription”explains the SNCF on its site.

Reimbursement conditions

But who can request a refund? According to the platform available online, the people concerned are:

– monthly and annual subscribers traveling on the section concerned in October;

– weekly subscribers traveling on the section concerned between October 17 and November 3, 2024.

How will the reimbursement take place?

If you are a monthly or weekly subscriber, you will need to go directly to the compensation platform. You will then be able to benefit from a voucher “worth 50% of the amount corresponding to your TER trip”.

If you are a year-round subscriber, SNCF specifies that “you don’t have to do anything”. The reimbursement will be made automatically to your bank account in January 2025.
