If you are missing some sun, go to Colmar

Colmar, voted best Venice in Franceis often cited as being one of the sunniest French cities (it has often even found itself in the Top 3!), but is this still the case after this year of 2024, which is more gloomy in terms of weather? We asked our partner for answers “Alsace Weather Monitoring” (find their forecasts every day, city by city, on the front page of our site) :
“Colmar is in fact the sector in Alsace which has a priori received the most sunshine in the region with just over 1770 hours to date for an annual normal of 1843 hours (1991-2020 standard). We should approach 1790 hours, or even a little more by the end of the year.
So a slightly deficient year in terms of sunshine but really not much, which was saved a little by a few rare months.
This contrasts with the sunshine across France, since 2024 is the least sunny year that France has experienced in almost thirty years.
The months of January, July and August were the only months with excess sunshine in Colmar but also in Strasbourg for example. The other months were all in deficit, with the largest deficits in 2024 having been observed since September. »
