For peace in Palestine, the Palestine Solidarity association remains mobilized

For more than a year, the Palestine Solidarity Saint-Brieuc (Côtes-d'Armor) association has tirelessly mobilized regularly in favor of peace in Gaza. This Friday, December 20, 2024, around fifteen people unfurled a large Palestinian flag several meters high on the station square and distributed leaflets to passers-by.

“We want to reach more people, especially students who go home on weekends and who don't come to the gatherings we organize two Saturdays a month,” explains Marie-Noëlle Blavet, co-president of the association.

“We feel so helpless”

Au recto of the sheet handed to pedestrians, written in large letters “14 months”, with subtitle “Gaza: genocide must never become normal.” Au versothe dizzying tally of dead and injured in Israeli attacks in Gaza and the West Bank, among others. “We feel so helpless” saddens Marie-Noëlle Blavet, Palestinian keffiyeh around her neck.

Saturday gathering

Since Thursday, December 16, however, a glimmer of hope has appeared. Very weakened, Hamas accepts the principle of releasing hostages without Israel's total withdrawal from the territory ravaged by fourteen months of war. This opens a (narrow) path to a temporary ceasefire.

Saturday December 21, at 11 a.m., gathering at Place Du-Guesclin, in Saint-Brieuc.
