95 French people identified including one from

A major international child pornography network on the Signal application has been dismantled, the gendarmerie announced in a press release on Thursday December 19, 2024. A man was arrested in the sector.

A vast international child pornography network has been dismantled. 95 French people were identified as part of this investigation by French gendarmes.

The investigation began, in the region in November 2023, with the analysis of a mobile phone of a man implicated in a case of viewing child pornography images. The starting point of painstaking work which brought to light a world-class network, 130 countries and 16,000 users of child pornography site forums.

“All are men aged 18 to 74”and a 16-year-old minor, reports the gendarmerie. Some have particular profiles: “One of them worked as director of a youth information association, one was a sports instructor, the deputy of a mayor is also involved,” points out the gendarmerie.

Gendarmerie investigators managed to identify 95 French people, including one from Le Havre, according to information from our colleagues from France bleu Normandie, which was confirmed to us by Soizic Guillaume, public prosecutor of Le Havre.

He was referred to the Le Havre judicial court and placed under judicial supervision, Thursday December 19, 2024. These arrest operations were carried out between December 9 and Thursday December 19. Searches were also carried out.

During these searches, investigators discovered 375,000 photos, 156,000 videos, 122 computers, 330 digital media and 152 smartphones containing 217 terabytes of “data of interest to the investigation”.
