The Director General of Health, Ousmane Cissé took part this Friday in an institutional validation workshop of the National Self-Care Strategic Plan of Senegal (PSNAS). The workshop was organized under the aegis of the Ministry of Health, in partnership with the NGO Path (health appropriate technologies program).

“Today, the major challenge facing our countries is achieving the Sustainable Development Goals and universal health coverage by 2030. As such, the validation of this document constitutes a decisive turning point in the process of empowerment. individuals,” he said.

According to Ousmane Cissé, “The vision of this plan is that by 2028, we can be in a sovereign, just and prosperous Senegal, where each individual, family member and community member, has the capacity to promote health, prevent disease, maintain health and cope with illness and disability, to contribute to universal health coverage”,

He notes that this vision “is consistent with the health component of the government’s Senegal 2050 framework”, which concerns “a quality health system, accessible to all Senegalese, regardless of their place of residence and income level, and open to users in the sub-region.
According to Professor Cissé, the World Health Organization defines self-care as “the capacity of individuals, families and communities to promote health, prevent disease, maintain health and cope with illness and disability with or without the support of a health care provider.
