Thursday, December 19, several accidents involving pedestrians near pedestrian crossings took place in the canton of Fribourg. First of all, around 7:15 a.m., a 70-year-old motorist was driving from Porsel towards Bouloz. On the road to Romont, he did not notice an 18-year-old pedestrian who had entered a crossing and hit her. The young woman, injured, was picked up by an ambulance and taken to a hospital.
Shortly before 4:30 p.m., an 85-year-old driver was traveling on the road from Murten to Granges-Paccot in the direction of Fribourg. Arriving at a pedestrian crossing, due to poor visibility conditions, she did not see a 59-year-old pedestrian crossing the road. Seriously injured, the man was taken to a hospital by ambulance.
Finally, around 10 p.m., on the road from Saint-Ignace to Marsens, a 32-year-old driver hit a 22-year-old pedestrian who was crossing the road on a crossing. The latter was consulted on site by paramedics. Several investigations are underway to determine the circumstances of these accidents.
The Friborg cantonal police would like to remind all road users of the rules of caution and the importance of remaining attentive and visible:
• Wear light clothing, bright colors and reflective elements, whether you are on a bike, motorbike, scooter or on foot.
• As a pedestrian, stop before crossing, even if you have priority, and make sure that vehicles have stopped.
• Equip your bike with lighting and reflectors.
• By car, motorcycle or electric bike, turn on your lights and clean them regularly.
• In all cases, be attentive and anticipate the reactions of other users
