At only 28 years old, Sacha Valleau has decided to end his career! Disturbed by a back injury, the RC Vannes center was unable to play in the Top 14 this season. He has not taken part in a match for more than nine months. The last match of his career will therefore be the reception of Grenoble at La Rabine, on the occasion of the 23rd day of Pro D2 last season, at the beginning of March (10-17).
Trained at Stade Toulousain, the club in his hometown, Valleau had an atypical career, launching his professional career with the French rugby sevens team. At just 19 years old, in 2015, he signed a federal contract and played the World Series, the world circuit of the discipline.
Participation in the Olympic Games in 2016
This choice notably allowed him to compete in the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio during which the Blues failed in the quarter-finals against Japan. With these same Blues, he will have worn the tricolor tunic 389 times. After the failure to qualify for the Tokyo Olympics, this big fan of football and Manchester City in particular signed up for RC Vannes in the summer of 2021. In three seasons, he played 38 Pro D2 matches, including 36 as starters, and scored four tries.
Sacha Valleau announced the news on Instagram, closing “the most beautiful chapter of my life”, facing “pain that had become insurmountable. I have no choice but to stop but I feel so lucky to have experienced all of this. It’s everything I’ve ever dreamed of since I was little.”. And the 28-year-old did not forget to recall his attachment to RCV, greeting “the best supporters in the world in Vannes. This club deserves so many good things.”
