In the apartment where the fire broke out, a woman and her daughter were taken to hospital as a precaution but there were no other injuries.
Firefighters from Mons intervened in large numbers to put out the fire and other areas, including Binche, sent a tanker truck in preparation. Precautions which fortunately were not necessary in the end because the fire was quickly brought under control.
As for the origin of the fire, according to the City of Mons, it was an explosion of unknown origin in the MN building of the Residence.
