Fire in an apartment at the Résidence des Comtes du Hainaut: 17 households evacuated

No injuries

In the apartment where the fire broke out, a woman and her daughter were taken to hospital as a precaution but there were no other injuries.

Firefighters from Mons intervened in large numbers to put out the fire and other areas, including Binche, sent a tanker truck in preparation. Precautions which fortunately were not necessary in the end because the fire was quickly brought under control.

As for the origin of the fire, according to the City of Mons, it was an explosion of unknown origin in the MN building of the Residence.

For its part, the City of Mons has taken steps to provide safety to the 17 households who had to hastily leave their homes while the firefighters intervened. “The residents of 13 apartments in the MN block of Comtes de Hainaut will unfortunately not be able to return to their homes“, communicated the City.

Solutions will therefore have to be found either within their families or through emergency rehousing.
