Do everything to make Christmas a time of joy and festivities for everyone. This is what the Bastia town hall is trying to promote through its operation “Christmas for Everyone”. This Thursday, December 19, the city in partnership with the CCAS (Communal Social Action Center) distributed 2,000 Christmas packages for the people most in difficulty.
“The objective is to ensure that all Bastiais, particularly those who are isolated or who do not have the means, can share Christmas. The holidays must be shared by everyone” explains Pierre Savelli, Mayor of Bastia. Sweets, cakes, drinks, the packages are made with “anything that can brighten up the Christmas holidays” explains the Mayor.
1,500 packages are reserved for individuals who registered last October to benefit from it. The remaining 500 packages are intended for residents of EHPADs, children, adolescents and adults living in ESAT (Establishments and Services for Assistance through Work), MECS (Children’s Homes of Social Character), and MAS (Reception Homes). Specialized). Isolated families and women hosted at CHRS Maria Stella will also receive a package.
The distribution was organized from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Lupinu multipurpose room and at the Market Town Hall. In addition to on-site donations, home deliveries were also offered to people who cannot travel. Because as stated by Françoise Filippi, vice-president of the CCAS : “Christmas is always about sharing, so that everyone can have a little extra”. A real moment of comfort and unity for the Bastiais, offering everyone the opportunity to experience Christmas in the warmth of the community.
