For the ninth day of the championship, Félix Lebrun and his partners easily beat the red lantern, Chartres.
The ANMTT continues to travel to different rooms in Nîmes and Montpellier without this having a negative effect on the performance of its players. When you have in your ranks the 4th player in the world at the age of 18, you can travel peacefully even when playing at home.
Two days after the fiery atmosphere of the Halle André-Vacheresse in Roanne (Loire) and its 5,000 crazy spectators for a late match of Pro A Gentlemen (3-0 victory for the ANMTT), the Languedocians faced the cozy atmosphere of the Palais des sports Jacques Chaban-Delmas in Castelnau-le-Lez. And again, this was not enough to disturb Félix Lebrun and his partners.
Without Alexis, the ANMTT is wandering
This Thursday evening, you didn’t have to arrive late to see the best French player at work. Facing Antoine Noirault at the opening of the match against Chartres, the youngest of the Lebrun brothers played his game as calmly as possible. In three dry sets and fifteen short minutes (115, 11-5, 11-5), the audience at the Palais des sports de Castelnau saw the last racket hits in France in 2024 of the phenomenon.
His brother Alexis, installed on the bench and not invited by his coach Vincent Avril to participate, was then able to encourage his partner Antoine Hachard who brilliantly won his match against the Hungarian from Chartres Bence Majoros.
Solid in important moments, the 30-year-old won the first two sets (11-8, 11-9). Manhandled at the start of the third set, he turned the situation around to give his team a second point (11-8). It was then Grégoire Jean’s turn to finish the work. Opposed to the Ecuadorian Alberto Mino, he had to fight to get out but finally won in four sets (3-1).
Félix Lebrun: “Crazy moments”
“We’re off to a great start to the year in both the league and the Champions League, rejoiced Félix Lebrun after signing a round of autographs. For the moment, all the objectives have been achieved, we want to continue this momentum. We have some crazy times together.”
With a second victory in Pro A this week, the ANMTT men’s team will spend the holidays warm, at the top of the ranking in Pro A. In the meantime, the Nîmo-Montpellier residents are traveling to Austria for the return match of the eighth of Champions League final which will take place on Sunday.
