Near . At 13 years old, the young swimmer Naël Rousseau is vice-champion of in 50 m

His frank and communicative smile brings happiness to his club: the swimming section of the Colombellois Secular Club (CLC), near () to which Naël Rousseau, 13, has just presented a silver medal at the national level. He is in fact the new youngest French vice-champion (S2) in the 50m butterfly.

“He only trains three times a week”

The young swimmer achieved this performance on the weekend of December 14 and 15, 2024, in (North). A result praised by his coach and head coach of the club, François Lemarquand. « Sa double qualification (with the 50 m crawl) for the French championships was already a satisfaction. »

“But Naël’s performance, he continues, is all the more beautiful as he only trains three times a week, which hasn’t stopped him from leaving behind young people who swim daily! » François Lemarquand highlights the qualities of “hard worker” and the “technical progress” of his protégé, as well as “his relaxation, because he doesn’t put pressure on himself”.

Return to the pool hoped for in April 2025

A student at the experimental high school (CLE) in Hérouville-Saint-Clair, Naël, for his part, has a modest performance, simply declaring himself “happy and motivated to train even more, with the aim of returning next year.”

By then, his club will have returned to “its” renovated Colombelles swimming pool, with delivery scheduled for the first half of 2025. “We hope it will be in April,” explains the head of the section, Ludovic Dauvergne, who congratulates his swimmer, specifying that “It’s a great performance despite difficult training conditions.”

For almost two years, the CLC has in fact been a swimming club without a dedicated swimming pool, which has maintained around 130 members while benefiting from a “very good coexistence with the Mondeville club and the Sivom des 3 Vallées (which manages the two swimming pools). We benefit of corridors for our learning, development and competition training groups. » Soon, the CLC will be back home and will be able to relaunch its “pending projects”in its tradition of “training and family club. »
