The labor court ruled in favor of Gabrielle Kane, feminist activist, in the dispute between her and her former employer, Marc Alain Aldasoro, general director of the company Africapital. The latter had unfairly dismissed Gabrielle Kane while she held the position of director of communications and marketing, a position for which she had been poached from France.
In its judgment, reports seneweb, the court recognized the unfair nature of the dismissal and ordered Africapital to pay Gabrielle Kane:
- 1,500,000 CFA francs for unpaid salary from October 2021,
- 3,000,000 F CFA in damages for unfair dismissal,
- 4,500,000 F CFA in compensation for notice,
- 750,000 CFA francs in severance pay,
- and 100,000 CFA francs for damages linked to the non-issuance of a work certificate.
In addition, adds the source, the court ordered the provisional execution of the judgment to the tune of 1,000,000 CFA francs.
In 2022, Gabrielle Kane initiated two legal proceedings against Marc Alain Aldasoro. The first, before the summary court, concerned the non-payment of six months of salary arrears. The second, before the labor court, aimed to challenge his unfair dismissal.
